This Gambling meta is worse than the Hot Tub meta
This gambling meta is trash. First, it started with Trainwrecks (big surprise) then xQc joined in for a day. That day alone promoted the Slots category a ton. People like "Roshtein" who've been doing it for years got more attention and it also made Train a 30k Andy.
2 weeks later we have people like Greek joining in with Andy and Train while they're all in a call gambling together. Other streamers like Moe and Buddha jumped on the train too. xQc being banned from GTA led him to be a gambling addict now and we know anything he touches on Twitch blows up. It's already happening, but it's only a matter of time until your favorite streamer joins the gambling trend.
It's fine when the slots category is in its own little corner of Twitch but once it gets this kind of attention and exposure from people who don't normally gamble then it becomes "meta" and all the 1k-10k viewer Andys are going to start getting sponsored and the category is really going to take off. Look at how much the category has grown already since this meta started a month ago. The average viewers (the teal color) are steadily climbing upwards of 100k compared to 30k where it was a month ago.
The slots category is way more degen and damaging than the Hot Tub meta yet it's the Hot Tub meta that is getting way more attention and complaints. A lot of these streamers who're joining the trend have a lot of young viewers too, it's a terrible thing to promote. It's really pathetic how these millionaires are so desperate for that sponsor money despite knowing that they're potentially ruining thousands of lives. I mean, even the BBC covered controversy surrounding the Hot Tub meta. I think we need more discourse surrounding Gambling on Twitch.
