I don’t think definitions of words should change just because people are commonly using the word wrong.
It happened with “literally”. Now the definition states that the word can also mean figuratively. I see it happening with the word “gaslighting” as well. I see it used wrong all the time and when I told someone that they weren’t using it correctly they responded with “the definition isn’t that stringent and has changed over time”. I hate that argument. What’s the point of language if words mean different things to different people?!
