Don't buy people gifts for their hobbies
If someone is really into something, they have all of the equipment/objects that they need. If they love their hobby, they are very educated on the specific equipment/objects that they want/need. They aren't waiting for someone to buy them anything, they have everything they need.
*If you ask them directly or 100% know what they need/want, go for it
