I don't see how Dressage is a more worthy Olympic sport than Breaking
For some background, I have been a big fan of the recent additions to the Olympics. Skateboarding is super chill (and also dominated by children somehow), Climbing is fun to watch, and despite certain individuals I found breaking to be quite entertaining as well. The level of athleticism on display there was impressive, and the vibes were equally as chill as Skateboarding. I'd genuinely call Breaking a variation on rhythmic gymnastics.
Unfortunately, Breaking will not be returning for LA28, as a lot of people seem to have not enjoyed it as much as I did.
Which brings me to my question. Why do cool and interesting sports like Breaking get removed, but borderline non-sports like Dressage are mainstays?
This is a personal issue for me because I have just never understood Dressage's presence to begin with. Horse-based sports are already pushing the definition of sport to me, but at least show jumping requires athleticism and skill from both person and horse. Dressage is very low tempo, and not very physically demanding. I don't doubt there is a lot of skill behind it, but why is making a horse dance more worthy of the Olympics than dancing with your own body?
Edit: Need to add this because I'm getting a lot of Dressage defenders in the comments. Yes, I understand that Dressage takes skill and physical ability. However it is still a primarily horse-based event in a human sports competition. And it is by far the lamest equestrian event for an average spectator.
